POTENSI JENDELA DALAM MEMINIMALKAN INTRUSI KEBISINGAN: SEBUAH STUDI AWAL

Low cost domestic building of warm humid climate depends very much on natural ventilation, and thus large openings. However, since adjacent street transforms into potential noise source, the openings will be critical points for noise intrusion. Opening design strategies is then of importance to adopt. Prior to this investigation, a computational simulation has been carried out to calculate ventilation rates within building to meet airflow requirement, which shows that there are three type of windows suitable to be employed. These windows, i.e. casement, top-hung and jalousie, were then to be examined of doing task in reducing noise ingress. The research shows indication rather than conclusion that jalousie window insignificantly offers better noise reduction than the two others do. Some unconsidered factors are predicted having effect on this result. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Bangunan domestik sederhana, seperti rumah tinggal, yang berlokasi di negara tropis lembab seperti Indonesia, sangat bergantung pada keberadaan jendela demi kelangsungan ventilasi alami. Seiring pertumbuhan fungsi jalan di depan bangunan, jendela juga meupakan titik kritis terjadinya intrusi kebisingan dari jalan ke dalam bangunan. Oleh karenanya, perlu ditempuh kompromi desain jendela untuk kepentingan ventilasi dan reduksi kebisingan. Penelitian sebelumnya terhadap 3 model jendela menunjukkan bahwa ketiga jendela tersebut mampu mensuplai tingkat ventilasi yang disyaratkan. Pada penelitian ini ketiga model jendela tersebut kemudian diuji kemampuannya dalam mereduksi kebisingan melalui proses uji lapangan. Ketiga model tersebut adalah jendela casement, top-hung dan jalusi. Namun demikian, keterbatasan dana dan sumber daya telah menyebabkan beberapa faktor belum dapat diuji dalam penelitian ini. Faktor-faktor tersebut menyebabkan perbedaan hasil pengujian antara tiga jendela tersebut kurang signifikan. Hal ini menyebabkan penelitian belum dapat menghasilkan kesimpulan yang cukup valid. Namun demikian, muncul indikasi bahwa jendela jalusi mampu meminimalkan intrusi kebisingan sedikit lebih baik dibandingkan dua model jendela yang lain.
